As we near the Christmas holiday we would like to send each of you some Christmas cheer. From Rick: At this time of year I am old fashioned. I want to be with my family, cut down and decorate a real tree. I don't like to buy presents from a list. (so they get what I want them to have) That's probably the wrong way but I have more fun doing it that way. It is the only time of year that our entire family can get together. From my 93 year old grandfather to my infant nephew we all gather together on Christmas eve for food, stories and gifts. I get a little mushy during the Christmas time of year. I tell everybody I see Merry Christmas and try and let everybody in my family know just how much I love them. The days are very busy but the worries go away because I don't let anybody interfere with my families favorite time of year. This web site has become a big part of my day and to all those that read this I would like to share one of those mushy moments. No matter how tough or how bad the times may seem if everybody works together we grow stronger. We may all want to feel like individuals but there is no greater feeling than being part of a family. From my family to yours I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Strong New Year.

From Michael: Christmas is a good time for me to relax and spend
time with family and
From Nathan: Christmas is a time of year for me to regroup and prepare for the upcoming year. It is amazing how Christmas seems to fall just about the time that everyone needs some kind of break from the day to day activities of the rest of the year. Growing up, my favorite day of the year was the first day of Christmas vacation; I felt as if nothing could be better than being able to stay home with my family that day, and for the two weeks to come. As I have gotten older I have realized that Christmas is not only a time for family and sharing but it plays an intricate part in maintaining my sanity the other 350 or so days a year. The best example of the need for Christmas break was illustrated during my four years on the Wichita State University bowling team. Anyone who was paying attention could tell what time of year it was just by observing the interactions of the athletes with each other. After a long first semester, tolerances and nerves began to wear dangerously thin about the first week of December. At this point the best remedy for these clashes was about two or three weeks apart to gain perspective. Luckily, Christmas break was right around the corner and it gave me and my teammates a reason to tolerate each other for just a little while longer, knowing we would receive a much needed rest in a short time. My family is very important to me and any time I get to spend with them is precious. From a personal standpoint however, the break associated with the Christmas holidays is a time for much needed rest and reflection that is essential for my psychological well being!
