Eugene used a Vapor Zone

Jason used a purple ball (sorry I am not sure what it was)

Eugene never game Jason a chance. Jason didn't bowl bad but Eugene had that look of a world beater and nothing was going to stop him even if it was the number one seed in the tournament.

There was no doubt that the ball we drilled for Eugene made a huge difference. Doesn't happen as often as people think but it sure dit here.

Not Sure

Good draw for Bill as DJ usually struggles on the fresh. With only one game over 232 I doubt Bill would have gotten by many other matches. DJ needs to learn when he can open up the lane and when he needs to stabilize it. He seems to be looking for too much all the time.

Mike Devaney used a Vapor Zone

Not sure what Patrick used

DeVaney has surprised me all week. I thought he had one of the worst looks on the lanes early in the week. He has turned that into one of the best. Mike is continuing to make good strides with his strategy. PA seemed to have control of the lane and what he wanted to do it just was not enough.

Joe Ciccone used a Raging Red Fuze

Ben is on Hammer staff but could not tell what he was using

I really thought Ben had the advantage in this match because I thought his angles would match up better. Joe chose to hook the lane which really was not as forgiving in both reaction and carry. Either Joe caught the right pair or I was mistaken because he made them look real good.

Wes Malott is on Columbia staff and I think he was using a Detour

Walter has been using mostly Track stuff this week but do not know for sure what he used in this match

Great match but as usual Walters strategy helps his opponent more than it helps him. All too often the higher rev guys take advantage of Walters breakdown. Walter really ought to consider a different strategy against the high rev opponents.

Hugh got off to a great start only to let Tony get some oil down lane and as expected Tony's look just got better. Many of the left-handers seem to be struggling with their own break down transition

A lesson on lane maintenance and transition seems to be in line for both of these players. Great skills but getting to the next level is all about adapting to transition.

I have witnessed Pete's opponents struggle for a couple years now. I am not sure what is going on. I don't think Pete is doing anything to mess up the lanes I think bowlers are trying to get in a do what Pete does all too often. for some reason I saw Chris Loschetter change everything that I thought was so good during qualifying. His hand got to the side and bank it off of dry instead of using a more stable ball roll and letting the ball arc.

Michael Haugen Jr. was using an Ebonite Ball

Chris Hayden was using a Vapor Zone

Michael, like many of the straighter players once they lost their look on the gutter they struggled to move off of it.

Chris played his breakdown much better and used this late match advantage to move into the round of 16

Lonnie saw quickly that he was going to have to see the lane differently. He wasn't going to be able to shoot the scores he felt he needed by hooking the lane. After the match he told me he just wasn't sharp enough to get by Mike.

Dave Traber is one tough cookie when he has the gutter to play with. On this condition a tough cookie is better than a Beef Cake. For those of you that do not know Brian Voss's nick name is Beef Cakes. Dave tells me that he has shot around 800 for the first three games of every round.

This matchup is always a good one and I expect the intensity to build with each meeting. Two very gifted players that look to be two of the bright stars of the PBA's future.

The difference in this match was the ability to stay up with the breakdown transition.

Norm used a consistent look and ability to stay up with breakdown transition and outlasted Dave's look. Dave just didn't seem comfortable on how to handle the breakdown well enough to beat one of the best in recognizing ball reaction.
