With the special tournament conditions and format this week I thought I would give you a special inside look to go along with it. I asked a variety of bowlers to give us their opinion. Here is an inside look at the interviews I had with each.
Parker Bohn III There is obvious interest in the difference between the "New" and the "Old". Knowing there are flaws in both do you think it is better to choose between one or the other, or would a better alternative be to have a mixture of both? How does the format effect the results of the tournament? What separates the super stars from the stars in today's game? When you are bowling are you more concerned with the pattern or how the field is going to effect the pattern? How many games does it take for the applied pattern to be transformed into the characteristics of the field? There is an obvious difference between the qualifying rounds and the match-play rounds. Higher seeds are getting knocked out early. What is your explanation? It seems that almost every pattern turns into the same look after a few games during the qualifying rounds. Do you have an explanation for this? Do you use different strategies for the match-play rounds than you do for the qualifying rounds? Are the "New" match-play rounds more intense than the "Old" match-play rounds? If the sport of game was simply about repetition who would you consider to be the best bowler in the world? Since repetition is only the beginning of what it takes to be one the best in the world...What do you think it takes to get to the next level? If bowling was only about power name your top three in that category. If bowling was only about accuracy name your top three in that category. Since bowling is more than power and accuracy what else does it take to be consider one of the best?
