Green 4
Brad Angelo
vs
Chris Johnson
post match comments From Brad
Scorchin Inferno seems to
match up very well. As Long as I stay slow and doing
what I like to do. It gets through the heads and comes
around the corner strong. No matter who I bowl the next
match it is going to be tough. Fortunately for me and
unfortunately for my opponent (Chris Johnson) his big toe
felt like it was going to fall off. Chris adds Brad is a
great competitor but it wasn't very nice to take advantage
of a cripple.

Norm Duke

Pete Weber
Post match
comments
The winner of
almost every match is the one with the natural speed
match-up. Those that like to throw it hard don't seem to be
able create as much hold or swing as the slower speed guys
and they see quicker transitions.

Chris Barnes
vs
Steve Wilson
post match
comments
Chris had options Steve did
not. There was nothing Steve could do in this match but
raise the scoring pace for Chris. This is a very loaded
bracket all the way to the round of 8.
Steve adds:
I got crushed. Not like I didn't see it coming.
Steve says
I think I angered him in the first game when I doubled in
the 10th to beat him. Because Chris proceeded to shoot 1083
the next four.
Green 1
Rick Steelsmith
vs
Patrick Healey Jr.
Post match
comments
This was a match where
everything went Patrick's way. He has a great natural
match-up and will be very tough to beat. Pat will see
another WSU alumnus in the next round when he meets Chris
Barnes.
RJ for Pat:
I threw the ball real good I feel confident. This pattern is
a natural matchup for me.
Pat showed
up just in time to get the story straight: I just matched up
great and I got the breaks and Rick didn't.
Blue 4
Walter Ray Williams Jr
vs
Mika Koivuniemi
Walter says with clutched
fists. I won a match!
Mika said he was the one
leaving the plague 10's. He never got comfortable with his
reaction. He had too snappy of a ball reaction. I have
nothing else to say he out bowled me. I have to get ready
for next week so I will go home and tune up my game for next
weeks major.
This week
and next week are almost total opposites.
Blue 3
Bill O'Neil
vs
DJ Archer
DJ give us some comments. The last two games
neither one us bowled very good. With me playing deep it was
an advantage to me because I can tilt the ball back more.
Bill was seeing oil at his breakpoint and struggled to deal
with it. If I can get the match into the late games I like
my chances.
Bill says I am the easiest draw on tour. I have only won 2
round of 32 matches all year. When I have to think I am in
trouble.
Blue 2
Michael Fagan
vs
Brian Voss
Blue 1
Tim Criss
vs
Sean Rash
Tim had real issues on the
left lane with the approaches. I couldn't slide I felt I was
sliding on carpet. I tried every combination in my shoe bag
nothing worked.

Says I missed have my spares. My opponent split more than I
did. Don't stop Mike you always have something to say. I
definitely won't be hooking more than my next
opponent.

Patrick Allen
vs
Ryan Shafer The
approaches suck I might end up in a wheel chair than I can
bowl with a ramp. As
soon as I prepared to stick I would slip.

Mike Edwards
vs
Tommy Jones
(post match comments)
Tommy managed to squeak in with a strong move
in the last two games of qualifying. With those efforts he
got to bowl the bowler with one of the best looks in the
tournament. Mike has the right speed, the right revs, the
right angles and when you are bowling Tommy you need them
all. Tommy says I
stunk. I add Today.
Red 4
Rudy Kasimakis
vs
Mike Scroggins
Practice
day for Rudy unless Mike lost his look or bowling balls over
night.
Scroggs has
such a good look. He doesn't have to worry about getting the
ball to pick up and he feeling hold when he misses in. Don't
think that is applied by the pattern it is created with his
style. He will be competing against another lefty with same
look in the round of 16. Eric Forkel.
Red 3
Eric Forkel
vs
Paul Fleming
The most recent IHL member
Paul never really felt he had much of a chance. He did
everything he could to blow open the lane his natural
speed/rev ratio just isn't as natural of a match up.
Red 2
Tom Baker
vs
Robert Smith
Brad says Bakes might want to
learn some new tricks. He has got to stop helping his
opponents.
Green
Round of 8
Pete Weber
vs
Patrick Healey Jr.
A couple guys who don't have
to think much on this pattern. They have natural match ups
and should provide a very exciting show for all of us. I
think Pete will have more problems in the middle games
because his game is not as compact as Patrick's. I didn't
like what Pat was doing with his hand in the Barnes match
and he still won.
Blue
Round of 8
Walter Ray Williams Jr.
vs
Sean Rash
I am not going to jinx my boy
and pick him to win. But boy does if have an impressive
reaction. Sean has been working on his tempo and it is a
great match up this week. It hasn't been tested under
pressure yet, so we will have to see. Expect Walter to apply
some pressure. I will be watching closely.
Black
Round of 8
Mike Edwards
vs
Mike DeVaney Mike
found the trick he needed in a short practice session before
this match. It is now his turn to try and take down the
bowler who seems to have the most consistent look across the
house.
Red
Round of 8
Robert Smith
vs
Mike Scroggins
My first instinct is to pick
Mike because this will be the first match Robert has to
break down the lane by himself. They are double stripping
the lanes this week so that should provide more consistency
in the amount of oil down lane. Robert will have his streaks
but I expect him to struggle with break point consistency.
Green
Round of 16
2
Brad Angelo
vs
Pete Weber
I promise you that Brad
learned from the Norm Duke / Pete Weber match. I don't
expect him to let Pete take advantage of his attempt to
raise the scoring pace. Pete will want to get left of Brad
while Brad builds a target area. It takes too long to build
so I don't think a bowler should worry about the scoring
pace.
Green
Round of 16
1
Chris Barnes
vs
Patrick Healey Jr.
This is the highlight match
of the Round of 16. Patrick has the natural match-up and
Chris can control transition better than anyone of tour. The
keys for Chris will be speed decisions. The key for Pat is
to take advantage of his natural match up and not get caught
up in the thinking game. I think Chris is the better shot
maker but that does not guarantee a win.
Blue
Round of 16
2
Walter Ray Williams Jr.
vs
DJ Archer
This is the best bracket
opportunity Walter has had in quite some time. DJ is showing
signs of wanting to learn. Since that is the case this
should be a good lesson from a senior executive of the
straighter is greater association. The reality is DJ has a
slight chance because he has the natural speed advantage.
Blue
Round of 16
1
Michael Fagan
vs
Sean Rash
Rookie usually goes along
with Rookie mistakes. This could be a lesson or a rev war. I
am sure both will be tempted to get into a battle from the
left side of the lane. Michael is very good at playing up
the lane but I don't think he will back down from a rev
challenge just yet. He could easily get sucked in by Sean's
ball reaction if his is questionable.
Black
Round of 16
2
Mike DeVaney
vs
Brian Kretzer
This pair was really worrying Mike. He hasn't shot over 175
on this pair yet. Well 175 can be in the match with the way
BK effects transition. There is a big difference between
winning a match and trying to raise your average. Mike's
best chance is if he tries to win the match and not worry
about the scoring pace.
Black
Round of 16
1
Mike Edwards
vs
Ryan Shafer This
may be the match that ends Mike's run. I have this feeling
that both will start in their comfort zone but Ryan's
comfort zone is not in a place that allows Mike to follow
his comfort zones transition. As soon as Mike is forced to
throw it harder he isn't going to like what he sees. That is
hard to say considering Mike has had such a good look but
that is what I think will happen. Yes I can be wrong.
Red
Round of 16
2
Eric Forkel
vs
Mike Scroggins
I have to favor Eric in this
match because he has the ability to move in off the spot
they are playing. Usually I would give the advantage the
lefty who can stay left but in this case I don't think Mike
will be able to string as many strikes. The additional
friction will likely effect his carry.
Red
Round 16
1
Wes Malott
vs
Robert Smith
Rev King vs
Rev Master. These two are black belts in the martial arts of
revolutions. The biggest factor in this match will probably
come down to speed control. Roberts tempo is much faster
than Wes's which I think is and advantage to Wes.
Red 1
Wes Malott
vs
Jason Couch
I heard
there was little chirping going on in this match. Wes threw
a marginal shot and got away with it Jason made a comment
about his area on the lane. Wes reminded Jason on how he was
splitting boards. From there Jason quit watching Wes. Wes
got the last word with a game seven victory.
Game 6
Jason needs X 8/ to win he goes brooklyn 3-7-9 to loose. He
never said another word.
