I have been working with both of these bowlers as independents. Mike is one of the most talented players on the planet. Del is one of the most experienced bowlers on the same planet. Sometimes when I watch these guys I think they are visiting another planet. I don't say that with any disrespect but having the type of talent and experience that these two have it sometimes gets in the way of their performance. Decisions have to be made quickly when you are in competition and when you have so many options swimming through your head it is often difficult to stop them from popping out at the wrong time. One of the things that most fans don't realize is how many thoughts are going through a bowlers head in between shots. Controlling those thoughts are very important. Developing a solid game plan before the match is the best way to combat the confusion that will almost always be a part of transition.

The more options a bowler has the more important it is to narrow down those options before the match. It involves a lot of guessing but nothing is better than experienced guessing. Both players had solid game plans. Del made a last minute adjustment to his game plan not 5 minutes before the match that would allow for an easier transition to follow. His talent is further seen when you realize I asked him to make a physical adjustment to how he had been attacking the lanes. After playing with it for a couple minutes it made sense to him and his commitment to a game plan is very important to the success he has been having as of late.

Mike was struggling with fatigue and told me he wasn't feeling well in the morning in his match with Nathan Bohr. He said he was feeling better now but was tired.

Jeff continues to struggle on the fresh.

Dino took the early lead and was very comfortable with the transition as well.

Mike has shown success bouncing between his MoRich and Brunswick equipment. With the added friction he has been seeing in the front part of the lane the slower spin time effect of the symmetrical cores in the Brunswick line have proven to give him his best look.

As expected the transition happened very fast in this match with both bowlers struggling at times. Jason must have struggled at more crucial times. Games 2-3-4 are very crucial. When a bowler is down 2-1 game four is so important. The mental effect of being down
3-1 is a lot different than being 2-2.

Jason struggled in frames 2 and 3 of the 4th game while Mike jumped all over those mistakes and never looked back.

I was very happy to see the way Michael committed and executed a game plan. Beyond who won the match I was very happy with his mental approach. If Michael is ever going to make it to the next level he will have to learn to attack situations with less fear and worry. He showed me in this match what he is capable of. Now the next challenge will be his ability to deal with the pressure and anxiety of making the show.

I think a little different strategy on Brad's part may have been a better option in this match up. He allowed Ryan to have the left side of the lane to himself early on. I will be willing to bet that he will be more aware of this the next time they bowl. Ryan bowled great but Brad made it pretty easy for him.

The way you attack the lanes early in the match has a tremendous effect on the scoring pace of the match. This match was a very good example of how different they were for Bill than they were against Bryon Smith.

This was a match were Robert used his usual strategy and chased Rick all over the lane. Robert does not like to have his opponent left of him. He will chase his opponent with almost every move. In an attempt to stay left of Rick the two bowlers were between the 5th and 6th arrow in game two. When Rick went right Robert followed him. Robert came out on top but Rick was very satisfied with his strategy he just missed out on opportunities he was given. Robert was never given the opportunity to take advantage of his opponent making the lane easier for him.

There weren't holes in Wes's game plan that caused the loss. It was the holes in his games. Wes had more open frames than Brian, in each of his losses key opens turned the tide of the match and allowed Brian to advance to the round of 8
