I haven't had much of an opportunity to use this ball yet. Mika has
used it a couple times. With the amount of oil we are seeing on the lane
it is a little too angular for how we like to use Particle balls. Once
the volumes come down or the surface friction increases we will be able
to use this ball to close our angles down. There are some layout options
I want to look at with this ball I have always liked these RG numbers on
the axis side of leverage so that will be my next look at the ball. We
have had too good of looks with the Strike Zone and Vapor Zone to worry
about creating more looks. Surface options are going to be important on
this ball. When I want a ball to blend out the wet/dry I will dull
it up to play the wet side and in a case like this I will use a layout
with a weight hole so the amount of surface I need on the ball will be
less. When I am wanting to play the dry side there will be more bowler
considerations necessary. The core differential is ideal to offer many
layout options. The fact that it is not asymmetrical can certainly help
maintain reaction smoothness through breakdown transitions. Next week we
are competing on HPL lane surface so I will be sure to take a look at
the Ambush to help smooth out an otherwise jerky motion down lane.
Bowlers dealing with too quick of a transition reaction will always have
a particle option in the bag and as long as the volumes are not too high
this will be a very versatile option on tour patterns.
