Michael had a lot more riding on this match than Patrick and he gave it a good run but he lost his look and Patrick found his in game seven. Michael is now officially out of the exempt race, he will have to go to tour trials if he plans on being exempt next year.

Paul's only chance of gaining exempt status through the point standings were on the line in this match. He needed to stay ahead of Dale Traber and Dale had already swept Mike Edwards in the same round. This was a match that was winnable for either player and I would have expected the lanes to transition in a higher scoring environment than they did. Game six was decided when Paul needed to fill 20 in the 10th frame. A great shot on his first attempt in the 10th left a ring 10 his second attempt in the 10th when he had to strike was not so good.

It is decision time for DJ. Sooner or later he is going to find out that just hooking the ball more than your opponent is not what professional bowling is about. I like the kid but he has got to learn to work harder if he wants to remain a professional. He has had ample time to learn.

Rick Steelsmith is the feel good story of the year. There are other players that fall into the same category on the point list but Rick is the one bowler who has seen his hard work rewarded at the end of the season. Rick has worked as hard as anybody at changing his game to match up and has been doing it for three years. He has gone through it all. Balls, layouts, and in the end he committed to doing it physically. I think back to what his game was all about three years ago and I can honestly say I am so very proud of his accomplishments. Not only do I know he has a chance every week now but so does he.

Taking this match to game seven was very important for Rick. Sure he wanted to win the match and it would make things easier but winning games 5 and 6 proved to be just enough to get Rick his exempt status for next year.

I knew on the truck the night before that Chris wasn't going to like what he saw on the lane today but he wasn't bowling against somebody with a great angle match up either. Both players needed a little more friction to throw at or better commitment to building the shot.

Andres was fighting for his exempt status and I have to add that he has done a much better job of matching up his ball roll on the fresh this last month. Jeff got two of the three close ones and then ran over Andres in games 4 and 5.

I wonder if we will see Andres at tour trials. I think he likes it out here so I bet we will. There are many international players that don't adapt to the tour life that well.

Mika sweep! Jason made things a lot harder on himself as far as the exempt points are concerned. He needed to get as many points as he could because there are a lot of possibilities at this time that could effect his status. In the end it all worked out well as he will go into the TofC knowing he will have a job next year no matter what happens.
