Tom Baker

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Tom is "Been there Done that" Tom has taken on everything that Professional bowling can dish out and figured out a way to get er done.

There is nothing impressive about Tom's ball speed... or is there? There is nothing special about his revs...or is there? There is nothing impressive about the angles Tom uses... or is there?

I know one thing, not only have I been watching him compete, but I've watched him win for many years now. In working with Tom I get a feel for what he is seeking and looking for. It doesn't always match what I am looking for. But when he starts shaking his head he quite often starts striking shortly after that. So if you're bowling Tom, be careful when you see him start shaking his head, a string of strikes is likely to follow. If you can't find Tom in the bowling center just listen to the trademark squeak that can be heard as Tom makes his approach.

Tom's Arsenal

Tom now has the opportunity to bowl more PBA tournaments than any other PBA member in the country. He is the only "Senior" PBA member to qualify for the exempt tour and he has that exemption until the end of the 2008-2009 season (as a result of his World Championship victory in the 2003-2004 season). Tom may be classified as a Senior but I know many younger bowlers wish they were as physically fit as Tom. A workout routine that helps keep Tom young and competitive would be a good lesson for any bowler who aspires to have the longevity of a Tom Baker.

Outside of bowling you can find Tom enjoying a nice meal and a good glass of wine or at his favorite pass time, the track. If it has four legs and you can put money on it, Tom will be studying the form sheet to see if it is worth the gamble.

My bet: Tom will do whatever it takes to beat whomever he is bowling on whatever tour he is bowing on. I would consider that a pretty good bet since he has been doing it for years.
