2007-2008 Season Set to Begin
Each year starts with a fresh outlook, a sense of anticipation, and greetings with others looking to make this season a memorable one.

An off season of preparation is about to end. The couple of weeks leading up to start of a new year is full of last minute chores. Knowing you are going to be away from home and family for the next 5 months. It is a feeling that never gets easier.

But as soon as I pulled into the parking lot of AMF Bowlero lanes in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin I knew it was "Time to go to work"

There is truck work, web work, and paper work that will keep me busy right up to practice session on Monday morning. That is when I will shift my attention to bowlers and competition.

I think the USBC Masters tournament is a great event to kick off the start to a new season. But when I am trying to get everything organized for a new season I wish there was not some 400 plus bowlers around to complicate the situation. Don't take that wrong bowlers but it would be so much easier to have a couple weeks of smaller tournaments to get things flowing before we get bombarded.

I have been doing this long enough to numb myself to anything outside of my responsibilities. Sunday offered an optional practice session for the bowlers wanting a little extra prep work. I expected 50 to 100 bowlers to take advantage of the opportunity.

Wrong the place was packed with bowlers. The 72 lane house had to have 300 bowlers. It looked like the tournament had already started. It would have been easy to get caught up in the requests a practice session brings. But those balls were not going to put themselves on the shelves. 250 new bowling balls had to be organized and shelved.

It is always nice to see friends and work mates that you have not seen in a while. It was especially nice to see Ron Bragg, because Ron helped me get the shelf work completed. There is room for 210 balls on the shelf which may sound like a lot but when you start trying to have variety to choose from you can only hope you have enough of what you need for the week.

I order 20-15lbs and 8-16 lb balls of each of our performance balls. So I have to be quite selective of who I give the balls too. We are not here to give away or seed product. We are here to perform and hopefully win the USBC Masters. Or strategy and focus is on our chosen staff of bowlers.

Brunswick has about 25 bowlers  representing us this year at the Masters. I am curious exactly what that number is, but you can see that I will be challenged to have enough balls to satisfy the request of those on our staff let alone those that are not.

It will be a very busy week and I look forward to the beginning of not only the competition but the opportunity to share knowledge and experience with our readers.

The truck work is done, the web work will never be done, and in just a couple hours we will start the practice sessions. I invite everybody to join us. We would love to see you at the tournament site, but if you can't make it, stop by Brunswickinsiders often. I think you will enjoy this years additions.
