Dave D'Entremont
vs
Mitch Beasley
Mark's Picks
Dave D'Entremont. One of the best at going in
and out of the ball track. Old school
My Comments
Dave may be good Mark but if you don't know Mitch
that is his "A"game too. Dave will likely go through
the track to the gutter. I thing I will pick Mitch
because I don't know the DD's body will be ready to
bowl at 9AM |

|
Todd Book
vs
Michael Machuga
Mark's Picks
Mike Machuga. More Experience and can go
around it better but if he needs to go straight he
can do that better too. My comments
Mike Machuga is bowling much better than he was last
year and his mind should not get in the way because
it is pretty obvious what you have to do. That being
the case Mike's experience should be the advantage
he needs. |
Green 2
|
Walter Ray Williams Jr
vs
Mike Mineman
Mark's Picks
Walter Ray Williams Jr. More experience the
best at playing the track. My
comments
I want to pick Mike because he is on my staff. But I
bet you Mike would even pick Walter considering the
wave Walter is on right now. Don't count Mike out
because the lane is giving him some help this week
and Walter ... never mind Walter will win. |

|
Ken Simard
vs
Mike Wolfe
Mark's Picks
Mike Wolfe. More experience... on a roll...
and finally got bowling balls that go left of the 5
pin when they hit. My comments
Last week Mike gained a lot of confidence and that
is a great compliment to a bowler who is obviously
throwing it great. With more and more confidence.
Mike will get in his own way less and less. For
three years I have watched him progress. Pick him on
your fantasy team now before he gets expensive |
Blue 4
|
Danny Wiseman
vs
Eugene McCune
Mark's Picks
Eugene McCune. He can use his speed control
through transition when it happens which it will.
My comments
Danny has the ball roll that is a natural matchup on
this surface. I will take his ball
roll if he is able to stay right of the track. If it
gets to the track Eugene will make Danny look silly
from a couple arrow left of Danny. |
Blue 3
|
Chris Barnes
vs
Rhino Page
Mark's Picks
Chris Barnes. More experience in match-play
but Rhino Page has bowled great the last 3 weeks
when the left has been a little tough. Rhino has a
simple game and keeps the ball in play
My comments
There is a Topeka Kansas connection here. Chris is
from there Rhino has moved there and I live there.
Go Topeka. I spiked my hair is recognition of Rhino
making it on the left this week |
Blue 2
|
Ryan Shafer
vs
Tommy Delutz Jr
Mark's Picks
Ryan Shafer. Simple because he has had a
better look than Tommy all week. My
comments
This match has to get left of the track and I like
Ryan's ball roll on wood with a burned track better
than Tommy's |
Blue 1
|
Sean Swanson
vs
Pete Weber
Mark's Picks
Pete Weber. Started off on a bad block and
then came back with a great look plus he has more
experience. My Comments
Sean surprised a lot of people in getting into
match-play. He did it by picking up 80 plus pins in
the last two games. I warned Sean how Pete tends to
lower the scoring pace early and out strike his
opponent when oil confuses the break point. |

Michael Fagan
vs
Curtis Woods Jr
Mark's Picks
That is a toss up. Again I will go with the
player who can go in and out of the ball track
better. Michael can go around it better than Curtis.
My Comments
I have to pick Michael Fagan because he is one of
the most talented players I have ever worked with
and he is beginning to gain more control of his
mental game. |

|
Brian Himmler
vs
Michael Haugen Jr
Mark's Picks
Brian Himmler. Can do more to the bowling
ball than Michael can. Had a great look all week.
Brian is a very under rated players and has a great
game My Comments
Himmler has the track look Haugen has a look right
of the track. If Michael is forced to the track
expect Brian to blow him away. Haugen will need to
trick his look to the right if the match gets into
the late games. Brian's should just get better |

|
Sean Rash
vs
Chris Loschetter
Mark's Picks
This is a tough one. Chris Loschettr simply
because Sean is 80% if the track opens up and Sean
has to throw it harder I don't think his knee will
allow him to do it. My Comments
I want Sean to force it deep but he seems to want to
throw it through the track and to the gutter. I bet
Chris will force it deep because he is liking the
track every week. Sean should be able to match up
well in the part of the lane. But I am not
comfortable with his strategic outlook |

|
Mika Koivuniemi
vs
Bo Goergen
Mark's Picks
Mika. More experience can change his game any
time to adapt to the transition. My
Comments
Brunswick vs Brunswick. Mika has been using a Total
to the right for the most part but can get left of
the track. Bo has been in the track with a
Sidewinder and should be able to stay there. But
Mika will have a look no matter where it goes and I
expect him to out strike Bo if Bo is forced to
think. Mika has many years of experience on rough
surfaces |
Red 4
|
Jason Wojnar
vs
Troy Wollenbecker
Mark's Picks
Troy Wollenbecker. Because he made it out of
tour trial here and he knows this place.
My Comments.
Troy's loft and ball roll should be what it takes to
beat Jason's. Jason's ball reads more of the first
20 feet than Troy's for that reason I will pick
Wollenbecker |
Red 3
|
Steve Jaros
vs
Eddie Graham
Mark's Picks
Steve Jaros. More experience as the lane
transitions. Steve is one of the best track players
on tour. My Comments
Steve Jaros will hit the pocket but I like Eddie's
physical match up on this surface. Eddie could have
the advantage if it goes late. Steve is suppose to
win but I have a feeling on this one that Eddie will
out carry Steve. |
Red 2
|
Ward Rauch
vs
Brian LeClair
Mark's Picks
Brain LeClair. More experience in match-play.
My Comments
Brian LeClair has an opportunity to make some noise
this week because of his ball roll. Ward Rauch is an
unknown talent to me. If you haven't experienced PBA
match-play. It will eventually get to you. I have to
go with experience here and pick Brian for now
strategic or physical reasons. As soon as Ward is
forced to think we will know it. |

Round of 8
|
Todd Book
vs
Walter Ray Williams Jr Walter was
looking to make his 4th consecutive TV show. After
two games it looked like nothing was going to stop
him. Todd was lost and Walter won game one by 80
pins and game two by 36 pins. Todd made a dramatic
move to the left side of the lane. I am sure it was
a guess on his part. what did he have to lose he had
zero chance where it was at. 4
games later Todd makes his first TV show |

Round of 8
|
Chris Barnes
vs
Pete Weber Chris and I talked about
what to look for early in the match and what to
expect through transition.
It was quite obvious that Pete was
not so comfortable with what he was seeing.
The entire match Pete was looking
to create something that just wasn't there. When you
are bowling Pete you just hope it doesn't find a
trick. In this case Chris was the fortunate one. |
Black
Round of 8
|
Sean Rash
vs
Michael Haugen Jr This was a match
up that favored Haugen from the beginning.
Straighter was greater in most cases this week and
Sean was doing his best to attack the lanes in a way
that would give him a chance against the obvious
favorite. It was a gallant effort and at times it
looked like he would be able to challenge Michael.
But 2 to 3 times a game Sean would catch more than
he needed and the usual result was the 3-6-9-10. |

Round of 8
|
Wes Malott
vs
Steve Jaros Through 4 games it
looked like either bowler had a chance to win the
match but after game 4 Steve stood very little shot
at getting to the show. The lanes opened up for Wes
and Steve could not carry with him.

|
Dave D'Entremont
vs
Todd Book After watching the first
match you wouldn't think DD stood a chance. This is
how pair to pairs can make a difference. I
understood Todd was playing up the lane...which I
did not think he was capable of. I promise you Dave
won't be up the lane. I don't have a lot to go on in
the match up I will just have to be a fan. |

Round of 16

|
Walter Ray Williams Jr
vs
Ken Simard I think Walter would be
better off starting this match deeper and moving
right. If he stays out on the gutter. Ken is going
to have a lot to throw at. If this was a shot makers
match. Walter would win so my gut would be to go to
a part of the lane where Ken's ball would wiggle
more. That would be the track area. It is wide and
spoty. |
Blue
Round of 16

|
Danny Wiseman
vs
Chris Barnes I honestly think Danny
has the natural physical match up and Chris still
seems to be trying to figure out his new arsenal.
Chris will be capable of making this a match if it
gets to the track. If it doesn't Chris better have
his strap game on and hit the gutter early or he
will see a lot of flat and weak 10's.
I am going to pick Chris just because I think he is
the better bowler |
Blue
Round of 16

|
Ryan Shafer
vs
Pete Weber I expect this match to
be played on the left side of the lane and think
Ryan has the better roll for that type of break
down. Pete is trying to hook the gutter and it will
take different balls to play a different break
point. I don't think Pete has anybody helping him
break down the gutter the right way and when he
moves off it I think his ball will get too far down
lane. I think this is a fairly easy match up for
Ryan. |

Round of 16

|
Michael Haugen Jr
vs
Michael Fagan I am feeling pretty
confident that Michael Fagan can use what the two of
them build early in the match. A Couple years ago I
would not have said that but Michael F. is seeing
things much clearer. Michael Haugen
sees the lane in a unique way and can create hold
when others can not. They may look like they are
playing the lane the same early on but it will look
totally different by game 3. |

Round of 16

|
Mika Koivuniemi
vs
Sean Rash Mika really is throwing
the ball better than Sean right now so he is suppose
to win because he has the better natural match up
and is bowling well. We all know how good Sean is in
Match-play. they are likely to get the gutter pretty
walled up. Sean won't have as much left as Mika and
will be forced to open up his angles and he is not
very good at getting it right early. Mika should
have better control of the lane, but it will likely
be about carry. |
Red
Round of 16

|
Steve Jaros
vs
Troy Wollenbecker This is a tough
match to call because I think Steve will be
challenged with carry while Troy is just
unpredictable late in a match.
Until Troy proves other wise I
will go with his opponent.

Round 16

|
Wes Malott
vs
Brian LeClair Wes has proven to
figure out a way to strike when he is own his own
pair and he certainly effects the transition of the
other players on his pair. Because of this I will
take the 3 extra scouts a game advantage Wes will
have over Brian. Brian's scouts
will not get to the 10 while Wes's will destroy the

Tommy Jones
vs
Wes Malott
Mark's Picks
Tommy Jones. simple reason he can play the
ball track from in and out better than Wes.
My Commnets
This is the matchup I want to watch this morning.
Room mates extreme rev rates and #1 vs #32
Picking a winner has to be related to who gets the
10 off the left wall better from the oil and I will
pick Tommy because he plays skid better. |
